Am 8. April 2011 lädt die Firma Orientation in Objects zum dritten Mal alle am Open Source Reporting-Tool BIRT Interessierten der Region zu einem besonderen Gastredner ein: Jason Weathersby, der Evangelist der BIRT Committer hält ab 17 Uhr zwei Vorträge in den Räumlichkeiten der OIO. In den Pausen und im Anschluss an die Vorträge ist dann Zeit für Informationsaustausch, Diskussionen und Networking bei Getränken und Snacks in kleiner Runde.

This presentation introduces new features provided by the Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) project with its 2.6, 2.6.1 and 2.6.2 releases.
BIRT is a powerful reporting framework that is part of the open source Eclipse initiative. Using BIRT, developers can incorporate reports into their applications without the need for time-consuming custom code, or they can build on and extend BIRT to provide valuable reporting services for their applications and products.
This session will give a detailed walk through of the BIRT project and details improvements in the Helios release, such as the addition of a Polar/Radar style charts, palette hashing, sorting improvements, multiple resource files and class path enhancements.

Most people see BIRT as a Report Designer built on top of Eclipse and while this is true, it is also so much more! BIRT is comprised of many components that can be employed in extremely different ways in various applications. This presentation will walk you through the architecture of BIRT describing the parts that make BIRT a Framework. In each of these areas, the public APIs, specific usage scenarios and general performance suggestions will be detailed.
